Thinkin' bout getting a full face helmet for the winter. I know there's probably a million types and as many prices, but I wanted to know if there were some favorites in the $200.00 to 300.00 range, and what options/problems to look for.
I have an Arai helmet. I don't care that it is made in Japan, I had one on in my 3 accidents and came out fine. The astral for $299 is a great deal. I swear by arai, but it might not fit you. I recommend going to a shop to try on all different kinds, and see what fits, then search the internet for best price. I got my arai which retails for about $700 for $300 at Derby cycles. http://www.derbycycles.com/cgi-bin/e...t=Arai_Helmets
Happy helmet hunting...It's almost time for me to get out the full face again...
I wear my full face year around. Nolan N-102. This is the most versitile helmet period. Flip face, drop down sun lens, removable liner, etc..
I paid $260 I belive:
I just recently bought a new Shoei RF-1000 on ebay for $299 it retails for appx $430. Its a great helmet,...vents good and visibility is also great. You really can go wrong with either a Shoei or and Arai. The may cost a lil more,.... but hey they are definately wirth it.
Just got a KBC FFR (flip front) comfortable, nice on cold mornings, takes some gettin used to. Go to a brick and mortar, find the one that fits, then go shopping on the net
I just started wearing a full face Shoei helmet (its a replacement for a HD 3/4 helmet with a shield). I like the added security of chin protection and its much better in the cold weather.
I opted for non-modular - sacraficing the convenience of that feature for less noise in the helmet. I really liket his helmet - very well constructed - DOT and SNELL rated. It is very comfortable.
