This weekend I am going to change the gaskets in my rear rocker box. I got myself my first torque wrench that goes 5 ~ 80 ft-lbs - it also says 20 ~ 150 ft-lbs even tho the readings only go up to 80 (?).
Only one of the nut on the lower rocker cover needs to be torqued 90 - 125 ft-lbs. Is there a way around it or do I really have to buy another torque wrench that would do like 20 - 150 ft-lbs just for that one nut? I can return it when I'm done lol.
the 20-150 number is probably neuton meters ...metric ...5-75 ft lbs =10-105 Nm .what he said is your best bet ...some parts stores will loan tools ...90-125 ft lbs is a huge spread so don't worry about the wrench being too accurate
rocker box bolts... you are way over on torque... what are you working on??
rocker box cover bolts are small... 10- 13 ft lbs...
Torque values for
1/4" bolts 12 ft. lbs
5/16" bolts 22 ft. lbs
90 - 125 ft-lbs for one of the nut that holds the lower rocker box to the head...I found it odd that the torque value between that bolt and the other ones is SO high. Too bad I don't have my service manual at work to double check...

the manual says rocker box cover bolts tightened to 15-18 ft.lbs. or 20.3-24.4 Nm. the breather assembly bolts are 90-120 INCH-LBS not ft. lbs.
I recall the service manual saying that the three bolts that have to be put back on the lower rocker cover have three different torque. But you might be correct for the inch-lbs...I found a unit converter online and 90 in-lbs is 7.5 ft-lb so I don't need another wrench!
