I wear Dickies slip on boots, they are not that comfortable to walk in but great for riding. I bought them because when I was looking for running shoes at Meijer they had a deal, buy a pair of shoes or boots and get the second pair free so basicly my boots were free. Had them for 4 years now, even rode in Europe with them.
I went to Sears looking for a pair of engineer boots for riding and found that they had Harley Davidson engineer boots with the Harley name on the sole. They were cheaper than at the dealer!
The Chippewa engineer boots came in the mail yesterday and I must say they are real nice boots, definitely get my seal of approval. I love just pulling them on and going instead of dealing with the laces on and off.
Not these..Non-marking soles, brown uppers w/knife pocket, lined, and nickel WESCO buckles. Actually were custom for someone else but refused. I for once had some good luck and they fit me like a glove.

I tried hard to buy Chippewa or Redwing (American-Made) boots. None of the stores in my area seem to carry either Chippewa or Redwing engineer or harness boots, so trying them on wasn't possible. I tried buying some Chippewa engineer boots online. I received and sent back three different pairs, none of which fit properly and all of which had some kind of blemish or manufacturing defect.
I finally gave up and bought some Chinese-made HD harness boots from my local dealer. First size I tried on fit perfectly and the finish was flawless. I always try to buy American where the product is superior to imported alternatives. From my experience, I'm starting to wonder if the Chinese are already making better footwear than can be made in the U.S.
I'm looking at Frye Cavalry Boots- but am also sliding for frontier shooter boots that go up to the knee- keeps the legs from freezing and the rocks kicked up from vehicles off your shins.
If we ride iron horses might as well go with boots made for it!
