Frye also makes a quality engineer boot and they are U.S. made. As far as them coming off, in my earlier days, I had a pair of 17" Sears (made by Chippewa) engineer boots on when a blue hair turned left in front of me as I was going thru intersection. Dont know what did it, but the instep of right boot was torn open (fractured T2) when I landed in street on the other side of car. Neither boot came off, and I was and still am thankful for the protection they provided. (Sorry so long)

i bit the bullet and picked up some chippewa engineer boots, no harness just plain black. i am sick of the lace ups especially back and forth to work and having to change shoes. still not crazy with the look but for pull on boots i think they're the most understated and best option.

Saving up for a pair of WESCO engineer boots.
Spendy, but I don't know of any boots that are higher quality.

I don't think I want another pair of Corcorans, I'd feel too compelled to keep them spit-shined.
