I have the Chippewa Rally Boots. I normally wouldn't pay $200 for boots but after going through 2 pairs of less expensive boots in about 3 years I decided to spend money on something that will last. Love the boots but I don't wear them much in very hot weather.

I've got a pair of Wolverine Big Horn black boots and brown boots.

Waterproof, steel toe and Thin-sulate. Great riders and great for everyday wear. Lace up is a pain, but it's only once a day, so tolerable.

I have a pair of Chippewa engineer boots that are quality boots....better than Red Wing IMO. That said, they suck if you have walk very far in them. I still wear them, but my Danner swat type boot, that are Gortex, and you can get them with zippers or have them sewn in, are a much more practical boot IMO.

I dunno if you have the brand over there, but I bought a pair of Frank Thomas boots. They're a specialist motorcycle brand that have been going for years and years in Europe.

The boots are very comfortable to walk around in and have flexible sections, a patch underneath where a toe shifter would be, are reasonably waterproof and have ankle protectors built-in.

I also notice that the non-replaceable sole is wearing through and the lining is utterly shredded around my heels. I've had them since last March and while I'm sure they're marvelous for people who never get off their bike and walk anywhere, they suck as actual footwear.

I wonder if I can get Chippewas in the UK...

I have no experience with the Double H boot, but I do have a pair of Cheppewa boots that I do like. I have a mini-Dauchsund that likes them too. He almost destroyed the right one when it was almost brand new. Luckily, I have a great shoe repair guy nearby that was able to save it. As far as the Cheppewa boots go, I'm not sure I'd have to fly very far very fast to have them come off. If I'm going on a long ride, I opt for my pair of Sidi boots that are slip on, but fasten with velcro around the calves and foot area. I think they provide much better protection, and are more comfortable to walk in. But the subject here is engineer boots, and yes, I think the Chippewa boot is well made and is a good looking boot, as well.

Try the Bates military style with the side zippers I have been wearing them for years and they are great for riding and walking.
