These Chippewa boots don't appear to have zippers. They are both lined though, that would help getting them on and off.

Default Critique Away, but Great Value

You all can critique away, but I used to always buy the Big Brand Name, most expensive, engineer boots I could buy. I thought that they would last longer and fit better. I was wrong. After months of struggling to break new boots in with my wide feet and ultimately the failure of some part of the boot after a couple years, I took one of my buddies advice. I bought these Xclement boots here:
http://www.leatherup.com/p/Xelement-...oot/41626.html
I was very surprised. The boots were nice heavy leather and are well made. I have been wearing them every single day, spring summer fall and winter for almost two years, and they are still in perfect condition. They are not 100% water proof, and don't claim to be, but they don't get water soaked easily either. And the best part is they had an extra wide width for my wide feet, and they required almost no break in. They were pretty soft from the get go! For $70.00, there is nothing to lose. I'm very happy with mine.

That being said, how many of you alternate boots for the same reason?

That being said, I bought a pair of Frye harness boots recently, and they're very comfortable out-of-the-box. Not sure if I want a second pair, or get something different like an engineer or lace-up to alternate into.

Absolutely right on. I have 2 pair that I alternate unless there are gaps in the days I ride. Alternating them and allowing them to air dry between rides helps increase their life tremendously. One is a pair of Red Wings and the other are Durango harness style. Both are equaly comfortable to me.

Bought this style Red Wings 15+ years ago and still wear them almost everyday. Got some wear on em to be sure, but nothing else I bought 15 years ago that isin't made of metal is still around.

TXSwede knows the right one. Mine are about the same age. Toes are getting a little busted on the left one, might need a re-heel soon. I could wear these things every day...

Agreed, it's a stupid fu*king video, but I'll stick with my Wescos in spite of it all.
