INCOMING.....Dumb question!
1. What are the purposes of motorcycle clubs? Aside from hollywood ideation.
What really happens behind those walls?
2. What is a 1%er?
I really appreciate those of you that humor my ignorance. And for those of you that don't[sm=icon_rock.gif]
I'm sure I have more but that is all I could think of for now.
1. I would say that this has a lot of different answers.
I belong to the Leathernecks MC, We are a family oriented club. We are all active duty or former US Marines or Navy Corpsmen. I think that we are drawn together because of the common bond of being Marines and Corpsmen. We do things to support those on active duty and veterans. That is my reason.

There is a lot of good information on the web about MC's if you do a search or just keep asking here and others will enlighten.

A 1%er is the one percent of us that are lawless, Godless, immoral, thugs. (And proud to inentify themselves as such) The other 99% are, supposedly, semi-normal.
Keep asking-nothing wrong with that
R/C (Riding Club)- Group of peeps who get together to ride around and have fun. Membership is usually fairly open and not much is expected beyond riding around and such.
M/C (Motorcycle Club)- Group of peeps who depend on eachother as a family would. Membership is usually closed or by invitation only. Members are expected to further the goals of the group, sacrificing thier time, effort and possibly more (depending on the club). They do more than ride bikes, they LIVE Bikes.
1%- Person who will live life by thier own set of rules, reguardless of the restrictions society puts inplace. I know some 1% types (Alaska has a lot of them) they don't go out of thier way to break the law, but they don't hesitate to cross that line if they want to.
Oddball thoughts- Patches can be taken as a sign of attempted dominance by some clubs. Learn what all of the parts to a patch mean and respect it. A LONG history and tradition is established in the MC System, if you want to become part of it, respect those traditions. If you don't respect the traditions and the lifestyle, I strongly suggest you just go away, ride your bike with your friends and leave this part of motorcycling to those that do.
Here is another good link to learn about MC's & MA's.

Many clubs are good. Just people with common interests that come together. No different, really from any other type of club.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
now- 1% groups will try to pull the wool over your eyes and lead you to believe that theyre decent, upstanding and misunderstood guys who ride bikes.... bullshlt. the Warlocks, Hells Angels, Tribe, Banditos, Wheels of Soul (and a bunch of others) are still involved in motorcycle theft, drug distribution, prostitution, illegal guns, bombs (yes, bomb making) and just about any other criminal enterprise you can think of.
the only GOOD thing i can say about the 1%ers is that they really only mess with other 1%ers. its not often at all that they terrorize the general public. helll, they most even give law enforcement a higher level of respect.... but theyre still no good.
and a 1%er is a 1%er for life.
