I finally did it... I broke my "I dropped it" cherry...
I've heard it many times... "It's not if you drop it, but more like WHEN you drop it..."
Well... It happened to me last night, and I thought it never would. I was out riding last night on the road to nowhere. I got a little disoriented and pulled over to try and get my bearings. Mind you, it was dark, and I had no clue where I was. Now I am sitting on the side of this poorly lit road just straddling my bike and I see a sign, but I could not see it to well. So I decide to get off the bike and walk over to the sign.
Most of you probably guessed it by now, but I forgot to put the kickstand down, and didn’t realize it until the bike went past the "OH ****" angle.
Luckily I have cruise arms and passenger floorboards and it didn’t go all the way over, so no damage at all and lifting my Fat Boy was fairly easy, and thankfully it was dark and no one saw me.
I just thought seeing I did such a bonehead move, that I would confess my sins on our fine forum and accept whatever punishment my peers deem worthy...
I've dropped mine a few times now. There seems to be a pattern for me. Like you, if sitting on the bike awhile before getting off and have done the forgot the kcikcstand thing. The other time that causes me to drop is when I'm backing up and turned around to look where I am going. For some reason I lose balance. I just use my mirror now or look down at the ground between my legs.
