Was researching sportster engine kits/head work and always come across NRHS so I figured they must be good, I then looked into a lot of reviews about the company and I kept seeing tha people where having issues with quality and oil consumption. Id ask over at the xlforums but I know NRHS is a sponsor there so I thought I would ask you guys. All the complaints were from a few years ago so I was wondering if anyone has recently had work done by them or knew of any changes they've made to fix those oases. Thank you
I was one of the people that had issues with the oil consumption. I didn't like how NRHS tried to blame it on Harley's design and cover the problem up. Not sure how many people it affected but I know they handled it very shitty. I remember they even came up with some supposed quick fix that restricted the oil flow or something because they thought it was getting too much oil in the crankcase or whatever. Instead of sending this supposed fix out to people they tried to charge people for it and then it ultimately was found out this didn't help a damn bit and just got them a little richer selling the part to people with the problem.
I ended up getting rid of my Sporty because of this problem. It was sucking down a quart of oil every 500 miles I believe it was.
I hear the problem has been resolved but I don't know. Last time I pmed another guy with the problem over on XLForums he said the supposed fix didn't help. That was a couple years ago though. Even if the problem was resolved and I still had my Sporty I wouldn't buy anything from them again after the way they handled it.

I was reading some stuff about that kit on their site last week, there was something about their changing the manufacturers at some point in the last few years because of that issue.
I have been holding off on doing the kit because of piginablanket's experience, and following threads as they come up. I believe the issue has been resolved now. I don't hear of any more oil consumtion problems. I will pull the trigger on a kit when my kids quit sucking all of my play money.
You might want to post on the Sportster forum. Those guys follow these things really close.
I know 2 people that have installed the NRHS 1250 kit in the past year or so, and they have had zero problems. Both are happy with the product as well as the support they got from Dan.
I never heard what caused the problems they had several years ago with oil consumption, but it appears that it was resolved. I wouldn't hesitate to use them.
I put on a 1250 kit on my last sporty from nrhs and it was ****. I also had the heads ported and that bike had *****. Anytime you mod the engine you may have to check your oil a bit more and burn some, that is just part of hot ridding these bikes. I didn't have any major problem with oil consumption at all with the kit though.
You will hard pressed to find a better company that helps the average Joe with performance upgrades on a bike.
