Default Accidental speed shift

OK guys, I know it was stupid, but here we go... I was pounding through the gears, running up the top of 5th, had my foot back to grab 6th, hit a bump, and did a full throttle speed shift into 6th. It sure didn't feel good, or sound good, but it doesn't seem like it done any damage. I tried a few shifts from 5th to 6th and seems to go in fine, but I can't help but think it couldn't have been very good for the drive-train. What damage would you expect from a dumb a$$ move like that?

I did that once going into 2nd. Was going slow across a dip. I would think any damage would be immediately evident.

Glade to hear I'm not the only one... lol, My gf was like "what the f*** did you just do?" It's habit I guess. When I'm running through the gears like that I usually cover the heal shifter so I can save a second or two on the shift. I imagine most of you do the same...

I did that a couple times yesterday. It was actually real smooth. I'm thinking that using the clutch is way overrated.

My foot gets ahead of my clutch hand quite often when I get on the throttle. As previously stated, it shifts really smooth.

Guilty as charged. I did it the second day I had my Road King. I never used a heel toe shifted before. Im used to it now but, I learned to keep my foot off it until I grab the clutch first.

It does come in handy for starting out in 1st, though. Mine will shift real well without the clutch.

What you did didn't cause any damage or hurt anything.

However, I would suggest that you use it in moderation.

Isn't it your sig that says "Ride it like you stole it"??? Quit worrying about it, you didn't do anything.

Good eye. Actually the OP's sig says, "Drive it like you stole it".
