If you ride with a helmet: what do you do to secure it to your ride? I've seen 'D'-locks which I think use the strap D-ring, but I can't see this being very secure. Also seen plastic-housing Master locks with a retractable cable, but a plastic housing? Any better solutions? Thanks

I bought a small cheap lock and a length of plastic coated cable from Ace Hardware and made my own. It is just long enough to go through my helmet and attach to my sissy bar.
It's not that my helmet is that expensive I just don't want to have to go through the hassle of getting another if someone happens to walk away with my it.

It depends. If it's my old battered HJC half helmet I hang it on the right grip. If it's my $220 Shoei RJplatinum it goes into the restaurant with me and sits on the seat beside me. If I'm at Walmart it rides in the shopping cart while I shop. Same with my $500 Fox Creek leather jacket.
