Of Course, it depends on the road, and traffic.

In the open, on a highway....78-80. Secondary roads, 60, or maybe 5-8 over the posted limit, which ever comes first.

It all depends on the road Im on. If Im on the 4 lane and the traffic is running 80-90 mph Im happy running 80-90 or if Im on an old back country road with something to see Im good running at 45 mph.
What he said.

When your making a consious effort to hold on, then your going too fast.

Pretty much have to agree with this statement.

Love to run her up to 120, then let the cruisin begin (let off the throttle).

Sometimes keeping up with traffic on the interstate is just too much for the brain, and have to get off on the byway and potato, potato.

My Dyna really enjoys 80+, so I have to mind the speedo to stay within the law at times. Then there are times 55 mph seems way fast.

For some reason, when I do the speed limit +5 or 10, some butthead wants to be about 1" of my @ss.

Just like Clammy said... traffic and road conditions first issue... then since the sweet spot on mine is something over 80, I cruise about there. But, I practice reaction times/distance covered and will flat crank her way down so I can always avoid hazard #1, #2, etc. I believe that all cagers want to kill me and don't give them the chance.

Generally I cruise between 70 and 80 on the highways, depending upon traffic and road conditions of course. My bike has a real sweet spot between 75 and 80mph. She just loves to cruise at that speed, and is VERY smooth.

Cheers!

I try to stay off the interstate , but if on it, uaually 65 -75 is ok. On backroads, depends on conditions and scenery, usually stay below 60.
If your going 100+, can you really make a possible life or death decision in time?...because any decision at that speed might just be that! Too many things on the road, or falling off other vehicles to chance it,..IMHO.

Best speed for me is SPEED LIMIT. TAoo many bike riders have accidents where excessive speed is a contributing factor. I don't care what your "SKILL" level is, you don't have the reaction time at higher speeds. Going 80+ in a 65-70 zone is not only illegal, its downright silly. Why put yourself into a situation that can cause you and others irreparible harm? Don't your loved ones mean anything to you? If you won't do it for yourself, do it for them..SLOW DOWN, and enjoy the ride.

Check this thread for a good reason to slow down

My bikes "tell" me if I am going too fast for either them or road conditions.

All you got to do is listen.
