Anybody have an FXRG jacket?
I just purchased the medium weight version and haven’t had the chance to check it out in “really cold” conditions yet.
This thing has pockets all over the place, a zip up liner, front and back vents plus a kidney belt, anybody try the built in kidney belt yet? I love how soft the leather is, and a friend swears by the overall functionality of the jacket as cold weather gear.
I pretty much ride my scoot to work 85 miles each day (all highway) and it’s starting to get cold here in Texas, I’m just wondering if my money was well spent? Time to break out the chaps and full face too….
I enjoy mine, I'm glad I sent the extra money. The kidney belt is great, the liner 'snaps' in using little elastic loops which are kind of a pain, so I just put on the liner and slip on the outer jacket over it, no need to fastnen all the snaps.
I also wear the liner under my denim jacket, comfortable and added warmth when just the denim is not enough.
I believe the FXRG is a heck of a lot more than $400. I think close to $600 up here. I will have to check on that again.
I have friends that had to ride up to Mt Hood late one evening and they were cold when they got home and we are talking 40-50 degree weather. They had the FXRG and ran into a little rain on the way.
When you get into the freezing zone you need heated gear or lots and lots of layers. A jacket and a linner won't be enough for the average person, especially the gals. You need insulated boots when you get much below 50 degrees in my opinion.
I have been very pleased with my FXRG. When it gets cold I add a windproof thermal neck gaiter and can easily ride in 30 degree temps and stay warm.
I liked the body armor that comes with the FXRG as well as the fit. The jacket is expensive, but it is very versatile using the zip out liner. I expect to be wearing mine for many years to come.
