So My wife (Jacki) and I go to the dealership the other day to get some stuff for my bike. Im chatting it up with my salesman and the owner and Jacki comes trotting over and says hey check out this bike! Im thinking cool she finally found a sportster she likes because Ive been trying to get her interested in one. NOPE! That wasnt the case, she likes the new 07 night train in flat black. I'm thinking, ok the hell cat in her just surfaced. Shes the kind of girl that the last time we went to the desert and friend asked her if she wants to ride one of his Raptor 660 quads she say sure, hops on it and is full throttle non stop til they get back. So needless to say I am a lil worried because shes never ridden a street bike before.
I just scheduled us to take the MSF course togethor, so we will be starting that on the 30th. I figure she will do that and either love it or hate it but its a good place for her to find out before we buy anything. I already told her after that we will be buying her a used junker to start off so if she drops it a few times (hopefully at slow speed maneuvering) it doesnt ding her dream bike.
Not sure why but for some reasons I swear she said she wants to get full sleeve tattoos now too, WTF! LMAO yet we bought her a white leather with leopard print jacket, what did i get myself into. I should have just let her ride on the back and kept my mouth shut.
Im not sure if Im having issues because she will have a bigger engine then me or not, hahaha. Sounds like a good excuse to get a big bore kit and a possible baker 6 speed set.
Oh Im excited she wants to ride, just not excited she wants a bike that costs twice as much as I was hoping to pay, LOL. That NT is a good looking bike, so thats nice. I would never make her get what I want over what she wants, lol. My life as I know it would end!!!
Same thing happened to me a few years back. Wife decided she didn't like riding behind me. Since then she's been through an 110 Virago, '96 Sportster 1200, '99 Lowrider, and now an '07 RK Custom. Naturally she blames it on me. I do miss her behind me BUT she is one hell of a rider (although she does worry me sometimes).
