Default I FINALLY figured it out

So many threads on keeping cool in summer...How hot is too hot...when do you stop riding during the hot season, etc...

I hate riding in 95+ degrees and considered above that my "off-season". I tried mesh with cooling packs, neck coolers, etc...

then...an epiphany!!! Upon being forced to ride (cage broken) during 107 degree wetather I decided to take the advice I have read time and time again on HDF. I brought to work a t-shirt and bandana. I soaked both with cold water, changed into t-shirt, put wet bandana over face and rode.

It was like Freaking Air Conditioning. 107 + is no longer a big deal to me. Best of all, it was FREE!!!

Note: This will not last long in this kind of crazy heat so bring extra water so you can rehydrate clothes. 107+ weather dries it out fassssssst.

Took a trip to AZ from Tulsa (and Vegas) at the end of June, needless to say it was smoking out. After riding out to AZ in a T shirt I looked for something else to wear. What I found was a Columbia "freeze" long sleeve. I bought it just a little larger and I will tell you it works. It was 118 one day during the ride. It was hot, but the difference was unbelievable. Even my brother who lives and rides in Tucson commented how cool he felt riding. (he bought the same time I did) Long sleeve, white - it works!!

I'm not sure I understand the soaked t-shirt concept. Do you have any photos?

Wet t-shirt with another (long-sleeved) shirt over the top. The moisture will dissipate the heat more efficiently than a dry shirt. One over the top will slow the speed of evaporation.

Try also spraying your jeans with water and putting them in the fridge for a while before you ride...

Wet t-shirt pic request went over your head I'm afraid!

As for spraying the jeans and fridgiating (is that a word?) them - REALLY?
