I wear gloves whatever the temp or conditions , saved my hands more times than I remember . Road rash is major bitch where ever you get it , tear up both hands who you going to get to do the toilet paper thing for you ?
Something to think about for those with no experience under them .

Yeah, that.
I hit the ground with my hand first the first wreck I had. Broke three of my metacarpals and my collarbone... and tore the palm out of the glove. I'd hate to think what my hand would have looked like.
I've been ATTGATT since I bought the Harley 6 months ago ... and I'm just starting to get comfortable with the idea of going without my jacket. I may, someday, wear sneakers. But I can't see a day when I'll leave the gloves, long pants, and helmet at home.
Ditto what everybody else is saying about saving your hands if you hit the ground, even a slow speed lowside. I won't wear a jacket when it's hot but I ALWAYS wear chaps and gloves. The chaps will give the Docs enough unmarred skin to graft my upper body back into shape.
For Soldiers, you are required to wear them on and off duty, have to wear full finger gloves. There is some debate what would happen if you get into an accident and arent wearing them...
For all DOD members, they preach it to no end in the air force. Have to admit was really happy i had full leathers on when i hit a deer 3 weeks ago at 45 mph or so on the way to work.
I ride with leather palmed textile gloves, mesh jacket, jeans, and a full face helmet no matter how hot it is. And I really only get overheated when stopped for more than a few minutes.
Some may think looking cool is more important, but I never ride w/o gloves. Having been down @ 55 mph, I want someone else's hide between me and the pavement. My Olympia warm weather gloves have gel-padded leather hand & finger palms, small knuckle armor, and vented mesh construction.
My old fingerless set hangs in the garage as a reminder to me about how they make the cement a LOT HARDER than they did back in the 70's!
I can't take the coats in summer, but I don't make fun of ATGATT riders either. They don't call me Road Rash for nothin'.
I should change my screen name too.
