Default High-Beam

A salesman at the Harley dealer told me that he knows a lot of people who keep their high-beam on all the time. I was wondering what people here thought about that. Does it make you feel safer and more noticed? I would be worried about blinding an oncoming driver...

I think the High beam on is ALWAYS a good idea. I doubt that you'll "blind" an oncoming driver as you will probably only be facing him for a fast fraction of a minute. But the high beam refelction on a front car's rearview mirror ( or a trucks) is a real good idea. Thats just my two cents...

I run my high beam during the day and my low beam at night.

I'm wondering if my reflector is horked, because my high beam throws a TON of light on the road about 6" in front of my tire, but NONE out on the road in front of me, its literally worse for seeing the road at night than my low beam.

Anyway, if you really want to be seen, install a headlight modulator, they are incredible for getting the attention of cagers who are asleep at the wheel.

I think that is just the Iron in general. I found the same with mine. Low beam at night gives me a long, narrow beam. High-beam just widens the beam, but only illuminates for a short distance.

I had the same problem with the high beam. The difuser is the problem. I put on an older style OEM lense on my bike and it illuminates better for me.

Me too with the high beam in day and low beam at night. You'll never bother the auto and truck drivers.

During the day I keep the running lights and the high beam on. It doesn't cost anything and it's a little extra "notice me" protection. I seriously doubt that any oncoming driver/rider would be blinded by it during the day.

I run that way too. High in the day, and low at night. Can't hurt so why not.
