Yes, humans are creatures of habit, and humans habitually crash into motorcycles. Perhaps it might be best to get them out of their comfort zone and get them paying attention to what is in front of them while they're driving. They might even have to consciously THINK about what's going on in front of them.

You want to be seen, not cause someone to contemplate the meaning of life while scooting down the interstate at 70 mph.

Right. Otherwise I'd buy a bright "Meaning of Life" light, since I already have a BAL brake light, LED TourPak lights, and a luggage rack with a brake light in it. With those and my flourescent yellow helmet, I doubt they'd even SEE a "meaning of life" light. But apparently, some drivers are more easily distracted than others.
My guess is that the drivers who are wondering about the meaning of life are googling it on their cell phones. Not trying to read it from a brake light. YMMV.

I definitely decided to get a BAL-1 for my Super Glide after reading this thread. I also want to convert my turns in front and rear to LED while I'm at it.
Does anyone know which brand of LED turns match/look best with the BAL? Also, what would you recommend as a controller so the rear turns function as run, turn brake and sync with the BAL pattern? Is it even possible?

I've run a super bright led brake/tailight for years. Anybody who gets too close gets a few quick brilliant flashes and quickly backs off. Only once did some smart-a** punk insist on constantly crawling up to within a few feet of my bike as I traveled down a city street. I could tell he had a hardon for bikers by the look on his face as well as the way he was driving.
Earlier this year I wanted a BAL-1 for my 2011 Fatboy, but they didn't have them available. I guess the 2011's have computer bulb monitoring to let you know when there's a bulb out. BAL just finished the units for 2011 and later bikes and they shipped mine off yesterday. Can't wait to see the difference in how closely people follow me. Bastards!
