After reading the rear brake in turn thread I thought some people should learn something about countersteering. See this I use this method pretty much all the time. It is quite handy. Simply put, if I wish to turn left I pull towards myself on the right bar. If I wish to turn right, I pull towards myself on the left bar. After a while it jsut becomes second nature IMO...
I do the same, more like push the left side to go left instead of pulling but still the same concept; it takes a while to get used to it again after being off the bike for a while...they go through this extensively in the MSF experienced riders course. Another tip to keep it upright is to always look through the turn and keep your head up.
I do similar to akdmax....I push left to go left and right to go right. Sometimes, if I really want to take a twistie quick and tilted , I'll do the push, pull simutaneously!
Leaning the bike does nothing. The only way to steer is to countersteer, which causes some leaning.
Very true. I always find it funny when people say "I use countersteering to turn the bike" like there's some other way to turn a bike. Everybody does it, most without realizing it.
Annubiss, you don't use it "pretty much all the time". You use it all the time or you wouldn't turn. You are probably "aware" of it pretty much all the time.
