Recently bought two jackets. Both are foreign made as are Harley gear. Tryhttp://www.Leatherup.com or http://www.mmccleather.com/for excellent quality/features/fit and value for less than half the price of HD. I prefer no logo's myself. Ebay often has quality jackets from reputable makers, some slightly worn. Really like my ($140 shipped) Buffalo Hide Leatherup jacket! Compare with the other good stuff that's made in the good ol USA.
Milwaukee
Order one size up. Both online retailers are very cooperative with exchanging for a different size if necessary.

Reason: fix typo
I have purchased several HD jackets over the years. I do not like purchasing jackets or boots over the internet. The jackets are expensive, but good quality.

When those jackets from Pakistan say "buffalo leather" it means water buffalo not the huge range Buffalo's of North America. Water Buffalo hide for a motorcycle jacket is not a good leather at all.

OK --- we disagree. Buffalo is thick tough attractive stuff.
I hate the price of Harley brand but I can't seem to find the quality and fit any where else. Every off-brand has turned out to be crap, or just doesn't fit well especially riding.....sleeves too short, or something isn't right.....so I just keep my eye on the clearance racks....leather in summer, lightweight in winter.
I have a Hd FXRG leather jacket and love it. The zippers don't seem cheap to me. My local dealer said if anything goes wrong with it just bring it to them and they will look after it. Haven't had to do it but I had a pair of hd boots that tore at the zipper that I brought back to them and they just replaced them on the spot with new ones.

If you cannot find similar quality and/or fit anywhere else, you're really not looking very well.
HD does not make their own gear. Period.
They buy it from someone else, throw a logo on it, and resell it at 2-4x the price it should be.
Even the FXRG line, good as it is, is rebranded. The same exact jackets are available from Fieldsheer, Tourmaster and First Gear (depending on style) without the logos for about 1/2 to 1/3 the price.
What about the Xelement American leather jacket??
Im sure it's not made in the us tho but I like the looks of it
Xelement is better than nothing. I'd wear it if I had to, but I'd rather find something else.
Do yourself a favor, seriously, and go visit either a motorcycle gear store in your area or perhaps a Honda or BMW motorcycle dealership. You'll find a completely different selection of equipment which is much more oriented towards function as opposed to being a rolling billboard for HD.
