I have a fxst with a twin cam 88 stage 1 and 42mm hsr carb.. my Dads bike is a 07 fxst and has a stage 1 as well. I had a chance to ride his bike today and I got on it hard off the line I see no more power ....in fact my bike has more power. i was thinking this 96 would make good power but maybe in the long haul it will?
I would have your dad go have his bike checked out. Maybe a 07 FXST is geared different than my 08 Streetglide, but there is no comparison between the power of it and my 03 FXST. The Streetglide will out perform hands down. Both stage 1.
I was not happy when I bought the 09' superglide, my evo, to my memory, made this bike a big mistake. What I mean is, when I got this new bike it pulled like a marshmellow. I can say that my 88' bagger was more fun to ride than my new 96' superglide. I spent a small allowance to make it right, but damn, the 96' was not a stroker design worth mention. There was nothing nasty about it.
I guess it's all relative. Every Harley I've been on seems to get down the road just fine, but they were not fast. If speed is your goal get a GSXR1000 or similar bike. If you want to have a good time and enjoy the day, get a Harley.

A 9 foot superglide, a 88 foot bagger and a 96 foot superglide. I knew they were making bikes bigger but this is ridiculous!
