Do you have a receipt of all the work/PN's and such? Cover your behind every way you can and can you prove the damage was done NOT by you?
Just some basics!

My bike catches fire at a gas station, of all places! the fire burns the air lines to my front suspension leaving me with no suspension to ride 300 miles home. Riding down i had an annoying flickering oil light, clunking tin can noises and fuses blowing left and right.
when i confronted the shop owner regarding the issues he said, just bring it in and we will look at it. After i got it home, i was curious to see what the noise was, come to find they never used the brackets to fasten the NOS system to the bike ( this was the clunking noise all the way down) I called them and asked " where are the brackets to the NOS system"? he said here in the box, my reply "why are they in the box?" his answer, oh they were not really needed.......Huh?

After looking deeper, I find the NOS (Nitrous) wires were no protected of shrink wrapped thus causing the short and fire.

I had some work done by a local shop and boy what a mistake that was...... i paid them over $7000.00 to do some modifications on my 2004 Road King, the work consisted of the following:
Stretched neck , wiring, NOS system, motor upgrade kit, suspension and accessories.

After reviewing my receipts ( because of the issues at hand) we decided to call Revolution (where the shop purchased the 107" kit) come to find they do not make a 107" bolt on kit for my year bike. So i was tricked into thinking I had paid for a 107" kit (after all it says it on my receipt) what am I to know, I am only a HD rider not a mechanic. Revolution stated that the only way to make this work on your bike as a 107" is to perform work on the crank, this was never done by the shop i went to.

Now the bike is down every other day, the motor is making all kinds of noise, blow by oil is everywhere, shorts and fuses popping still haunt me and i dont even know what the actual size of the motor is.

I have brought the bike back 3 times, they never fix the problems but keep charging me.... I know i am a bit stupid for returning to them but i spent so much money, now there way out is "sorry we cant make you happy and lets part ways"

It is really heart breaking to spend over $7000 and now have to tell my wife that it was a waste of money and needs to be redone.

I am just venting, dont know what to do about this. I have all my receipts stating 107" How can they say its a 107" and also how can they install it when they did not do the work that Revolution says absolutely needs to be done??

Here are some photos of the problems we documented:

this photo is a lowering kit they installed with washers:

this is a photo of the crimped air hose to suspension:

this is a photo of the wire harness they lleft:
Attachment 219623

this is a photo of short that caused fire:

This is the wiring under the tank they left:

Thanks for letting me vent, I wish I had a lot of money to file a law suit..... I guess they got me on this one.

Thanks again for listening.

I would take it to a trusted, indy or HD shop, and have all that sh*t that the 'zoo put on it taken off (probably solve your fuse issues) - especially the NOS. The only people who I know that run that, installed it and know exactly what that stuff is about. Not for everyone that's for sure.

Make sure the shop documents everything and get a signed affidavit stating that the work performed on your bike caused the fire, the mechanical, and the electrical issues. I would also have them inspect what internal work was done because chances are good it was done wrong.. PLus you can verify whether or not you were defrauded on a 107 kit.

Accept that you are out lots of money. You will not get it back. But maybe you can get some of it back and punish these as$holes in the process.

Get your bike back up and running first. Then go back to the 'zoo with documentation and tell them you want a full refund plus expenses to make the bike right (get ready for laughing). Then hire a cheap attorney to draft up a threatening letter and get the ball rolling. Take it step by step. Also report them to the BBB.

Tell your wife that sh*t happens. It wasn't that it was a bad plan, it was that you got ripped off. It happens to many of us. Now it's time to right that wrong.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

I want to know why you're not writing this from jail. If this had happened to me and after three times they stopped trying to fix their *****-ups, I'd balpeen the crap out of their hands so that it hurt the rest of their lives if they even tried to pick their nose. A balaclava and a dark, rainy night and they wouldn't be able to say who it was, but I'd mess them up bad and the ballpeen is *not* a joke...I'd use it repeatedly on those ****-stains.

Default Update on what we found inside the engine

I would like to thank everyone here for the support my wife and I have received, it feels really comforting that other riders feel our pain during the holidays.

When the new mechanic opened up the motor that was less than 2 months old, this is what we found:

I believe the mechanic said the crank was grooved, the pistons were scored, the cylinder were scored and the .640 cams they installed were damaged as well.

Now I need to either purchase a new motor or fix the cancer.

Forgive me, I do not know the correct terms for the motor.

Man, that really is a sad story, hope it all works out for you.
If they won't refund your money, then you have to at least take it to small claims!
You should have a clear cut case for shoddy work, but certain issues will come up.
How much did you use this nitrous? that piston looks pretty skuffed up.
Are these motors made to withstand the extra horsepower of the nitrious?
Just some things they might say if it goes to trial, they will try to say you bought an offroad performance product, so must have been using it, and there is a probability that it may have contributed to the breakdown of the motor.
I wouldn't let any of that deter me from pursuing the case though. Those bastards
need to be injured, by injuring their wallet, you are doing it legally.
Peace

Yea, check around, get references before going to an indy. First one I used was an ***, messed up my tune, broke a mirror, installed my fork tubes and they were uneven.
Then I had West Side Harley do my inner primary bearing issue because the MOCO paid for everything and they were awesome. So much so that when some idiot backed into my bike and did $4000 damage I had them do the repairs and again, they treated me great and did a super job!
Then I took the bike to who I heard was the best indy shop around here to get it tuned and wow, what a difference, they did a fantastic job compared to the first jerk I took it to. So much so, that when I installed the new V&H Big Radius pipes I took it back to them, and again they did a great job.
That first dipshit is cocky, knows it all and thinks his crap don't stink.... The tuner I go to now takes the time to talk to you, explain what he's doing, and treats you like a human being.
Good luck, hope you get this straightened out....

I never used the nitrous nor filled the bottles, just have to be able to prove that.
Thanks

Please name the shop so others will not get screwed like it seems you have been.
I can't speak for all states, but here in KY a claim over $4,000 would be filed in circuit court (our highest level trial court, felony cases and major lawsuits). It also involves fraud by the shop, so it could involve damages in excess of the actual loss, suhc as punitive damages, attorney fees, etc. It's worth talking to an attorney about because, if the shop's liability is pretty obvious and they have liability insurance, the OP might be able to very quickly get paid for the damage.

Personally, I just follow the rule that if I can't do it, it's not getting done to my bike. That way, I always know who to blame.
