I've decided to change my Ultra's standard turn signals to LEDs but I'm in doubt wether I should buy the HD ones that don't need a Load Equalizer or the Custom Dynamics that require a LE.The price is about the same: HD $139.95x2, CD $69.95x2 plus LE $64.95x2.Any suggestions? Thanks
I have the HD LED's on my Ultra. Love them. Load Equilizers often present heat issues, especially if you ever have occasion to use 4-way flashers. No heat issues with the HD lights. Just my $.02

I installed the HD units up front. I like them and they are designed to work with the bike, so I went that route. Plus they were actually less $$ than a lot of aftermarket units. Be forewarned, the fronts are a pita to install. You have to drop the batwing shell and run the wiring through the little holes in the mounting brackets - which all seems easy, until you do it. The problem is that the wiring has moco quick connectors, which need to be removed without damaging the very delicate sockets housed in the plastic connector. You then route the wires (carefully), and stab the sockets back into the plastic housing - unless you deformed one, and then the fun begins. PLease don't ask me how I know. I'm just getting over it.
PS - My dealer gave me a discount so they were more like $120 a pair.
I used the aftermarket (ebay) leds on my heritage , inexpensive, on front and back of my Heritage and have had no problems so far. They plug into the bulb sockets.

Their turn signal kits are plug and play with the exception of needing 12V for the load equalizer. The inserts plug into the bulb sockets and the load equalizer plugs inline with the wiring harness. On my RGU the wiring harness connector where the LE installs is under the saddle so connecting the 12V lead to the battery isn't a big deal.
I have Kuryakyn Panacea LED tail light and turn signal kits on my '02 Heritage and the Custom Dynamics are much brighter. However my Kuryakyn kits are nine years old and it looks like they have been redesigned since then. All I know is the Custom Dynamics kits are bright even in the daylight.
I went with gray lenses on my RGU and also added Triple Play Run/Brake/Turn module for the rear turn signals.
But if you have to sip the cool-aid and want the bar and shield accents then the HD inserts are the way to go. The nice thing is there are plenty of choices.
My dad put HD LED's on his Heritage all the way around, after about two weeks they all had condensation in them and one had fried the circuit board inside, HD replaced them all at no cost but I'm still not impressed with the product. His LED headlight filled with condensation too, HD also replaced it for free.
I put Custom Dynamics LED inserts in the rear of my bike with their plug and play load equalizer, works great, I highly recommend anything from custom dynamics.
