I carry one in a sheath on my belt and a folding lock-blade in my jacket or jeans. In Arkansas, the blade is supposed to measure less than 4" long. I've been pulled over and not asked about the knife on my belt, but he WAS interested in the 9mm in my boot. haha
I've carried a knife in a sheath for as long as I can remember. It's been long enough I don't know what it is anymore. The name that got wore off it a long time ago. In Wyoming, as far as I know, you need a cc if your knife is in a sheath and measures 8" or more unfolded.
Why? Riding a Harley doesn't give anyone any special kung fu skills. Being big doesn't mean you can handle yourself. Being big with no aerobic ability or out of shape just means you are a huffing puffing sweaty mess while someone stomps your ***.
My 46 yrs of life have taught me that staying away from situations are the number 1 best way to be safe. And failing that stay in good shape (running, biking, swimming, upper body)and try to learn how to do whatever is necessary to GTFO of there.
I carry a K-Bar. I hang the sheath from one of the saddlebag straps. I rode the Hoka Hey which covered all 48 states with it there this year and no one (with a badge) ever said a word about it.
Edit....I had to drop out when in the S.E. so never made it to the N.E. however. Might have had a problem there but no that I went.
served with a guy that killed a guy in a bar fight with an inch and a half blade. Wasnt exactly intentional but did go downfor manslaughter. We were stationed at APG,they did have a rule at the NCO schools no weapons period so I dont think the Army was any help.
while we r on the subject , any hoosiers know the law in Indiana ?? I live close to the border and ride over there a lot
There is a website (who's name I can't recall, how helpful) that devotes a whole section to knife laws by state. The on recurring problem is there are both state and local laws in most states and sometimes you're covered state-wise but screwed locally. Like the laws that govern the rest of PA seem null and void if you go into Philly.

well there is a bill on the house floor working to get it so one state covers all states. I ride off & on base.. so no knife or such for me.
I've ridden on military facilities while on active duty (24 years) and now as a contractor and always had and have 3 knives on me. A leatherman on my belt and 2 pocket knives. One smaller buck knife and an older case my father gave me years ago. Both overseas and stateside. Been stopped at the gate, vehicles gone through on occasion, no problems.
I've been riding over 30 years. I have traveled many miles in the US, Canada and Mexico and have never carried a gun, knife or any other weapon. Never had need for one.
A knife is a weapon only for the desperate.
If you want to carry a weapon you carry a gun.
A knife usually is a tool. A very useful one.
