6 years ago I paid $39dollars for a half helmet. I'm kinda hoping someone will steal it so I can get a new one.
I am with you. I have been leaving my helmet out in make less than desireable areas and it is always there when I get back. Looking for a reason to buy a new lid.
I had one stolen at diner once, was sitting on my mirror.
Guy came in and told the group that some kids ( teens ) in a car just took a helmet off a bike.
He couldn't remember the details of the car other then it was a dark two door foreign car. Maybe Toyota or Honda he didn't know for sure.. But had 4 teenagers in it..
Most likely they took it on a dare and tossed it down the road..
My helmet and gloves always go inside my saddle bags which I lock. I don't like to weigh the odds in favor of the crooks. Whether it's some teenager looking for kicks or a drug addict looking to steal anything they can get their hands on, they will almost always target the easiest score.
I have a few helmets, and I don't really like any of themso it wouldn't break my heart if someone did take one off the bike. My only worry would be getting a ticket on the ride home. If I ever find a lid that I like I'll use one of the little cable lock that every gun comes with these days.
Helmet I never worry about but my expensive sunglasses I do. I either hide them under my gloves in my helmet or take them with me. Way to easy for someone just to reach in and take them.
I always leave mine on my seat. Had a beat up plastic bucket basiclly forever. Broke down and bought a good one and the first time i came out of the bar it was gone. Brother luckly had a spare that i wore home. Guess i should have just kept the beater helmet. Can't have $h!t!!! Sorry, its only been 6 months and I'm still a little pissed!
