I always stop unless their is already another person there to help. Two people means at least one cell phone and a functioning vehicle.... I would assume the situation is under control.
Waving to other riders is stupid and the definition of a 'real biker' is if he pulls over to see if another biker on side of road needs help.
I do it out of habit. I don't even realize it at times. I don't always pay attention if they wave back or not. If they do, they do. If they don't, they don't.
I always stop unless its obvious they have enough help already there. And I usually wave. Out on the road, almost everyone waves back. In town all the sport bike and scooter riders wave. But only about half the Harley riders wave, and none of the Gold Wing riders wave. I guess they are too busy trying to look cool (HD) or navigate their barges (GW) safely.
Was not the type of wave thread I thought it was, just looked to see the flaming about "how many fingers do I wave with".
Sucks that nobody stopped, I know that I would, because I can tinker enough to break it more and the one time that I needed a hand, someone did stop to help me. I might not be very mechanically inclined, but I know that I can offer some sarcastic humor to the mix and help as much as I could. And I believe in the whole good and bad karma thing. What goes around will definitely come around.
being broke down with someone is better than being broke down alone,,,,and I would enjoy the sarcastic humor at that point,,,,at least your offering something,,,,,,alot more than most people did the day I was out there,,,and I did say people,,,,,not bikers...
I will always stop for a single biker on the side of the road.......even check when there are two bikers sitting. However, I am so over the waving thing! I will still wave, but am over initiating it. Many years ago we used to acknowledge other bikers on the road because there were so few of us where I grew up. Now, you could be "waving" every minute while on a ride.
If you no indication for any help, no one is going to stop. I would be doing all sorts of crazy things to catch ones attention for help. Jumping jacks or running circles around the bike. No one is going to stop if you show you do not need any help
