Question Titanium header wrap

I am going to wrap my exhaust pipes with DEI titanium heat wrap. Do I need to spray them with the silicone spray after? Does it really last or will it just burn off or wear off?

I don't like the look, but my brother has it on his 86 evo sporty drag pipes. It's held up for two years, but he is also an admitted fair weather rider. I don't know how it would do with rain and such.

Actually the website under the FAQ's tells you to spray them with the silicone before wrapping.

I have not seen this type of wrap before, but I like the look.

I always soaked mine in water before wrapping....put one end of wrap in vise and got a good tight wrap starting at inlet end working to exhaust end and used hose clamps instead of the smaller clamps.

Cool thing about the titanium wrap is you don't need to soak it in water or spray it with silicone. I would start towards the mufflers and work your way up towards the headers. I bought some of the DEI stainless ties but didn't end up using them. Instead I got some galvanized bailing wire from the hardware store and twisted a strand of that around each end. Looks much cleaner that way.

Thank you, I see that now. It says spray the pipes before wrapping no need to spray the wrap.....

Like HDfat pointed out DEI recommends you spray the pipes, not the wrap, prior to installation. Wish I would have known this a few weeks ago lol
