I wear a FF so I think I have more glasses to choose from vs. fighting the wind.
I bought a pair of Oakley Straightjackets because they fit great with the helmet and look nice, even off the bike. I didn't want gaskets because of sweat nor look like I ride bike when I'm off it (like people carrying their helmets with them).
For that price I'd get some Wiley X shades with interchangeable lenses.
+1 on this.
I wouldn't trade my Wiley X for any other. If you don't ride with a FF helmet I'd absolutely get a pair with the foam inserts. I've had the transition lenses before and they didn't quite cut it on the really bright and sunny days. If you have an HD dealer near you, go check them out before you buy see how you like them on a sunny day. I've also found that most transition lenses are nothing more than clear lenses with a film over them which tends to come off and become somewhat blurred after several cleanings. I've looked into getting glass transition lenses but don't want to have something over my eye that could shatter if hit by a rock. I usually buy meets the ANSI Z87.1 standard to reduce that potential.
I don't like the cumbersome look of goggle-like glasses. I've had Wiley X years back and they frame distorted to where you could see a gap between the lens. It was odd. I was cross-shopping Wiley X though and was willing to forgive for that.
I have this, alternating with 2 others, Wiley-X and Panoptx (7-Eye). Trying to find which one works better. Here is my opinion:
Harley is the least expensive, fits good, but doesn't get as dark as the other 2 in bright sunlight. Slowest transition time as well. Panoptx is better, but doesn't fit me well, and is the most expensive. I prefer the Wiley-X, fits my face best, fastest transition time (compare to the others), price a little lower than the Panoptx.
Bear in mind none of the above gets dark enough if the sun in lower in the horizon. That's where my Oakley comes in. So I still carry 2 pairs.
Lastly, DO NOT use Panoptx Lens Cleaner on anything other than Panoptx. I rubbed off the coating on a pair of Wiley-X using it.
