I thought the chrome switches were just covers that went on the old switches, but under the switch housing to hold them in place.

If this link doesn't help, go to Harley's website, parts, select your bike, then hand controls. Click on the switch kit to bring it up, then click on the "download instruction sheet".

They snap on and off. They can be a real pain in the *** to do. When I did my wife's Deluxe, I slowly and carefully pryed to old ones off using a small screwdriver. Then installed the new ones by pressing them into place until they "Snapped" in. They pry from the sides of the caps...outward, and then up

You have to remove the switch from the housing to install the switch caps

Post above has link to instruction sheet

TAKE YOUR TIME...they break easily

You must remove the control housings. The switch plates are mounting to the control housings with torx screws. The OEM black switch "covers" must be removed and the silver colored (they are not actually chrome) covers can then be CAREFULLY replaced on to the switch assembly.

Take your time....the new switch covers are easy to break while trying to coax onto the switch assembly.
