Chorme switch housing replacement
Hello,
I just switched the stock black switch housing to the chrome switch housing and now the bike doesn't start when I hit the start buttong and the turn signals don't work when I use the signal buttons. Anybody have and ideas as to why it isn't working? I replaced and put it all back together like it was before.

check to make sure you havent snagged an earth wire. Is it both sides that dont work of just the right hand side one ? I have done sevreal set sin the past and never had any issues so you might just have been unlucky and broke a wire.

I would say take it apart to make sure none of the wires got pinched.Or maybe something got disconnected.I put the chrome switches on my ride,and when I put it all back together the little spring for the start button wasn't on.I had to take it apart again and fix it.

Ya got a shorted wire somewhere in all that stuff inside. What a pain that is!! I did the chrome buttons just after I got the bike. Thought it would be a quick cheap upgrade, until I could get the chrome housing. After the install of the buttons. I no longer plan to change the switch housing. Too much trouble, and opportunity to screw something up.
You mentioned that the turn signals don't work. Is that just theright turn signal, or both? If it's both, you might have somehow blown a fuse. If it's just the left, I'd say there is a pinched wire. Do the front turn signals come on as running lights when you turn on the key?

They both come on as running lights fine. When I try to use the left or right turn signal buttong it doesn't work. The horn button and the high/low beam button work fine. Then you have the start buttong that nothing happens when you push it.

Hummm....I'm 2 floors away from my Service manual. I'll try to remember to lookup the wiring on those circuits.

Changed mine... one of my first upgrades.... never had a problem, though I will admit that getting them to set in there right took a little time, but it wasn't a really big deal...
I'd look in the housing and maybe loosen the screw or take it out all together and try the buttons to see if everything works and go from there...
Ya' gotta start somewhere....
