I have always said that some guys only think they want to go fast. When things get dicey or you lose it, its the next corner/ride that separates the wanna be's from the go fast guys. A person should ride within their abilities and/or comfort zone. Don't think however that just because a rider goes fast they have never been down or hasn't a close call. And I am so sick and tired of the "If I wanted to go fast I wouldn't have gotten a Harley" statements. It's a darn good thing the guy making those statements didn't get a faster bike, because a bike don't make the rider.

My toes scrape before it starts hitting the boards. That gives me an indication that the limit has been reached.

I usually have to wipe it off every hundred miles or so.

broke my neck and 7 other bones including my sternum 10 years ago. Hospital for 5 weeks and another year or so before i felt back to human.lol Speed is fun. If you got ***** you need your fix of adrenalin for sure. It only takes something small to change your life though. That z28 i flipped end for end after hitting the deer at 120mph changed my lack of respect for speed. Could have been worse, could have been less than it was also. When a doc tells you that your lucky to ever walk again, a smart person don't take that for granted.lol I still like to ride hard. Just know to well the consequences if something happens. It only takes a second, and you will never get that second back. Ride safe boys.

Most of my riding centers on just me and my Harley and lightly traveled, twisty, 2-lane mountain blacktop, loaded w/ camping gear. Though my riding style is rather normal and nearly legal I enjoy the occasional run through the twisties, pushing the limit, or some rapid acceleration, up through the gears. I lane-split, some of the very most dangerous and adrenalin-charged risk, at times. But, at 68, my racing days are long past. And I just enjoy the mountain riding at a fairly normal pace (w/ frequent stops) something very difficult to do on a sports-bike, w/ its aggressive riding position, as opposed to my Harley's more comfortable cruising position.

Having been down, at 55mph (it's no joke), I appreciate the value of leather between me and the pavement, and always wear boots, gloves, jacket and helmet; add chaps at appropriate temps/conditions. And my bike, a Super Glide Custom, is a good choice for this type of riding (no boards to drag), w/ its relatively high lean angle and stock suspension height. Been down lots of dirt roads, w/ it, just to see what was at the other end, or find a campsite free of all human sound and sign.

Yup, i think you hit the nail on the head with your first statement. I'm not a wanna be. I don't wanna be dead cuz i second guess myself. If you wanna go hard theres no room for that. Thats why i don't go fast anymore. And some peoples version of fast ant that fast at all. Cuz they can't handle what real fast is. But you already know that.lol
