I have heard people comment that trying to use the friction screw as a cruise control is bad joojoo... The dang thing is easy to set but if you have to stop real quick your are boned.

Doesn't someone make an aftermarket cruise control for the harleys?

Once set, it can not be given more throttle but can always be backoff without without unscrewing the set. I don't care to use it but have on occassion when my hand needs a break and the conditions are right. I plan to install the cruise control with new grips in a couple of months but right now I'm enjoying riding too much to park it for a day or two.

The throttle friction screw allows you to remove your right hand from the throttle and rest/exercise it when on long rides. If it is tightened just enough to hold the throttle, its pretty safe as you can still rotate the throttle if needed. Overtightening can lock the throttle and require you to fiddle with the screw to release it.
I would not recommend using it as a cruise control.I rarely use my cruise control in my cars and can't understand why anyone would want one on a MC, but then I enjoy riding and don't need all the bells and whistles built into the glides to enjoy the ride.

The throttle friction screw is not intended to be used as a cruise controll, its used to keep some of the throttle return spring tension off the grip and off your wrist to helpyou from getting wrist fatigue on long straight roads. I use it occasionally but back it off when not out on the open highway.................BG

Not to mention if you go down, the bike won't go back to idle, not a pretty sight to an already bad situation.

I don't like it. When I'm on the throttle, my hand knows which way I'm pulling and releasing is an instinct. When I'm using the screw, I'm not pulling and I have to actually think about which way to push it to release it.

I use Cruise Control allot when riding on Interstates or long straight back roads.

The Breakaway Products throttle device is the best out there, but it's cumbersome to use and looks bad installed, IMO.

Just get the Harley Cruise Control set-up, you'll be glad you did.

I'm surprised the EG Classic doesn't come stock with that feature.

Works great on those long trips, just gives you a quick break.
