I don't particularily like rain, but if you ride you're gonna get rained on. Don't own a rain sock but both bikes w/ open filters have crash bars and soft lowers that get put on when I am riding in wet. Necer have had a problem. Kind keeps water off my boots too.
Ran into that situation a few times myself. The last time I was coming back from NY (Americade), I was so cold I was shivering, only two hrs from home, but man what a long two hrs. Glad you made it home safely, that is what is important.
Have ridden in many a rainstorm dont much care for them but if your gonna ride and go some distance you will sooner or later get caught. If there is a chance it will rain I wear my 3/4 helmet with a faceshield and glasses it keeps most of the rain out of my eyes, even when I wear a two piece rainsuit if there are any zippers not zipped or buttons not buttoned water will find it way in run down your back to soak your butt.
Oh yeah! Forgot to mention try riding across a 4 lane swing span bridge in a heavy downpour wih 25 to 30 knot winds on an 883 Sportster, if that dont pucker your *** nothing will.
