My wife works at a hospital that is 80 miles from home and works the night shift.
She comes home one saturday morning and says to me, "hey, I wasnt able to wait for J's medicine, maybe you could take to harley and enjoy a nice ride and go pick it up."
So I thought, cool, so I checked the weather and it was looking good so off I went.
Well on the way back home, about halfway, im at a traffic light and there is this big black cloud overhead, rain gear in the saddlebag, and suddenly the bottom fell out.
People around me in cars are looking and I just shrug my shoulders and grin.
Light turns green and I turn left and am on the six lane highway and the ruts are so bad water is standing in them and the traffic im passing is throwing water over me like a tidel wave.
I get to the gas station and pull in and wait it out, 15 minutes and its gone.
The next 40 miles I ride in sunshine and by time im home im almost compleately dry.
The Windjammer was our first night, just after getting off of 'The Cat'. I really can't complain as that was the most rain we had the whole trip. Just a few showers here and there. Plenty of fog though. I'm hoping to get back to NS someday and see a bit more of it. I was impressed with how friendly the folks were to a bunch of raggedy looking bikers.
hahaha my town, we lost the cat 2 seasons ago and doesnt look like there will be another ferry service from yarmouth to the US at all. pretty much killed the entire area's economy since now at 60%+/- unemployed and growing durign the usual busy season, as a result several hotels/motels have gone bankrupt, many retail outlets and such as well. lots of homes forsale for cheap or forclosed on. and with the low price buyers are offering the lobster pounds the fishermen have gone on strike so even the fishplants and lobster crews are shutting down.
to the OP next time your in the rain grab a pair of tight mesh nylons from somewhere(best to get new ones from the store as tryign to grab em off some random lady leads to problems) slide em over your a/c should keep it dry enough to keep going

I had heard about of the cat. I'm glad we got the chance to ride that boat.
What a kick to go 50 mph with trucks, busses, campers, etc on board.
So sorry to hear about the effect it has had on the area. What were they thinking when they stopped it? Geez. Couldn't they have figured out what would happen. WOW~ 60% unemployment. That's horrible. I hope it hasn't caused you any hardship (employment). It's been bad here in the US, but nothing like that.
If I stayed home everytime the weatherman said it was going to rain I would have missed alot of good times & rides. It still sucks to get caught in a downpour though.
There you go. Right there. If it isn't raining when I leave or it isn't forecasting 100% chance of rain then I'm riding.
I picked up my SG on April 21st, and it's rained every time I've had it out. The weekend weather has sucked the last few weeks, but whatever. If that's the hand I'm dealt, I'll play it.
I did roll up and place a rain suit in one of the bags, though. If the rain ever gets as bad as yours was, I'll probably pull over and put it on. I'll look awesome riding a black denim SG with a bright *** yellow rain suit on!

ya it was a complete snafu with the cat and they knew it would happen when they cut it but it was all about saving $$$$$ when they did it. ya alot of people have been affected myself included but not much you can do i get by, looking at a relocation to more prosperous grounds.
