Lol, remind me to not wear any of it around you! What do you wear?

I know what I want to wear, but need to find it. These are just things I'm finding that would "work" for now.

I fear baking in the heat, but guess I just need to go try some jackets on.

Our requirements are a bit different than the UK, I wear mine for the anti-rash properties and comfort while riding. I don't care if anyone thinks it looks cool or otherwise. If it's a bit cooler and going on a date night with the wife, I may throw on a leather jacket. Otherwise, looks don't matter, I'm not wearing it to a party.

I like the way you think.

Stitching... Lots of people just get a heavy jacket and think that is it. Many of the discount jackets save money with cheap manufacturing and when you go down the jacket comes apart.

If you are serious about a jacket as a protection product don't go cheap it doesn't make sense. You don't have to get the more expensive jackets but make sure the stitching is excellent. I have seen guys with cheap jackets that won't do a damn thing when they hit the deck.

Perhaps the our different climates encourage some to wear leathers mor frequently than but I don't wear a leather unless it's really cool.

Many years ago we were at the local H-D shop and my wife was looking for T-shirts and I went over to the men's leather coat rack.
THey had a really nice jacket (I think it was a Willie G) so I tried it on.
I felt like I had been wearing that jacket for years. It fit me like a glove!

THe wife came over and commented who well it fit ma and looked on me and said that I should buy it.
I hadn't looked at the tag but she did and calmly said ('cause she knew I would NEVERpay that much for a jacket) "it's only $450"!!!!!!

Several years ago I was at the dealer where we've bought several bikes and they were having a clearence sale.
One of the jackets was a CHP model with a removable liner and it fit pretty good but it was still a bit above $200.
The following week I went back to get another bikes serviced and this time they had that jacket marked down to $125....so, it's still mine!

When I put my leather in my saddlebag (I never leave home without my leather jacket) I roll it up inside out to let the liner take the wear and tear.

I like a jacket about a size larger than I normally wear.
This allows plenty of room for more layers of clothing and bit of extra sleeve length. I normally keep a heavier shirt or two, or a hoodie just in case.

Are they still making that line? I'm really interested in one of those jackets, but I haven't seen one in the Harley stores around here for some time.

link leads to some gruesome pics, but the submitter apparently had a high speed crash doing something stupid or was stupidly going faster than his skill level.

regardless, the damage he took was from improper fitting jacket. the sleeve was loose enough where it twisted at point of impact and gave him a ridiculously bad case of road rash. so not only ATGATT, but make sure it fits right.
