i always wear a leather jacket and either Kevlar jeans with knee pads or quilted cargo,s with knee pads , and a good pair of combat boots and leather gloves , Ive seen to many mates get horrible injuries that could have been prevented by some descent riding gear , my wife has also nursed a couple of guys in ITU ,who died from severe road rash and the infections that go with that type of injury ,
i know we don't get your heat in summer , we might make 38 (95) on a scorcher , but a quality leather jacket will be cool enough with the vents open while your riding , just take it off when you stop .
I have a Harley leather jacket for the cooler mornings. It has vents in the sides under the armpits, across the lower back, and behind the front pockets, for the warmer times. It is comfortable from about 40 to 80 degrees. Under 40 I add a sweatshirt; above 80, I leave the jacket in the tourpack. It has the armor in the elbows and shoulders. The leather is very soft. It is comfortable in most conditions. It doesn't ride up your back like many do. I love this jacket.
I'd suggest taking your time to find something you know is going to work for you in a lot of different riding situations. Get on and off a bike a couple times.
Don't buy cheap ( you get what you pay for) I tried many different jackets before i learned my lesson and just spent the money on a jacket that was made for riding a motorcycle and not to just look good.
JM2C Hope it helps, Good luck
I hope it comes with the glasses, saggy pants and still has his fragrance of douche on it. Definitely a starter jacket for sure. Thanks for pointing out. lol.
Hey guy's new to the forum, have a question for any that can answer. I have an 2012 Iron 883, looking to upgrade the tank to the biggest I can get away without to complicated of a Mod., was wondering if a Fat Bob 6 gallon tank could fit on it?
I second the recommendation for the Fox Creek Leathers Summer Jacket. I just got mine last week and although the heat in Texas hasn't been turned up much past 90, I find it a HUGE improvement in ventilation over their leather version.
