Oh, and speaking of going crazy, I am on the 8th month of an 11 month tour overseas, and getting ready to go home on R&R next week for 15 days. Cant wait to get the 'Train out and in the wind with my Babe! My Son will be trying for his learner's permit (MC) as well, so that we can all three ride together! I tell you, time has pretty much stopped right now!
Passed my MSF test and feel great about it! Just need to go take the written portion of the test, gear up and rent a bike for a while to get my skills down!
Yeah, I think i've changed my mind on the renting process. I think I'm going to get a smaller bike, probably a metric to start off with and make sure I can ride it. Then when it comes time for my HD, I'll rent the specific model I want and try it out that way.
I've found some reasonable offers on craigslist, so I think i'm going to go that route for now.

Find a small group of experienced riders or even one or two riders and get them to help you refine your skills. I started with the MSC and unfortunately fell in with some very impatient, unsympathetic riders. We recently had a new rider join my current group and there's about 3-4 people who are taking him under our wing and helping him out. The other thing is to find an empty parking lot somewhere and practice turns and such. That'll help a lot. Finally, always glad to see a new enthusiatic rider. Welcome home!!!

And I can't wait to see all my brothers and sisters home soon safely and riding. Thank Yo for your service!!!!
