Electrical Issue...

I bought a 2006 Ultra Classic a few weeks ago, I have put a few hundered miles on it now and had an issue today on my ride home. While i was going down the interstate the speedo and tac started turning off and then back on, sometimes at the same time and some times independatly. I got off the interstate a few minutes later and it seemed to be fine, once i took off again and got to about 15 mph both gages died again and the radio died. It came back on once or twice for a few seconds and then died again for the last 2 or 3 miles home, once home i shut the bike off and turned it on again, then it all worked fine, have not ridin again yet, Loose wiring? Let me know if you have any ideas....

Sounds like the main circuit breaker. Harley had a problem with them for a year or two.

It has not sat out in the rain since i got it, i have been checking all the connections under the front fairing and everything looks good so far, and of course it works perfect in the gargare...lol

Check the wiring to the gauges that glitch out while riding....A factory manual will be a good road map to begin the quest!

sitting outside in a rainstorm is not going to cause this.

I've ridden my bike in quite a few downpoours, I'ved washed my bike, and I don't keep it in a garage.

It does sound like the OPs issue is from a bad connection.

Since it happens when you are riding and not when the bike is sitting still, sounds like a loose connection somewhere or short with an exposed wire. Start with the easy thing like the battery connections and wires around it to see if any bare wires are touching the frame. Then work from the gauges back.
