How long does it take...
I have read several people on here talk about doing 500-600 miles in a day and was wondering how many hours it took you to do it at a comfortable pace on the interstate. I have rode several 300 mile days, all secondary roads, and including fuel stops and one sit down meal it usually takes 8-9 hours. The reason I ask is I am planing on rideing to Michigan this summer which according to google maps is 619 miles all interstate and was wondering how much time to plan for. Thanks in advance for your help.

I did Calgary to Sturgis year before last 1400km in one day. (840 mi).
I did an ironbutt ride last summer 1700 km in one day (1020 mi).
It's easy. Just sit there all day twisting the throttle. Stop for gas every few hours, washroom, bite to eat, get a drink, go some more.

I did 720 in 13 on the stock seat.
The ride back was about 850 on a new seat and I did it in 13 3/4.
I did have to ride across the Mohave desert, so I stopped every gas stop to hydrate.

If your doing about 75 mph all the way and stop to get gas and eat along the way I would figure it would take about 10-12 hours comfortably with out pushing yourself.

I've done Vancouver BC to Sturgis ( 1247 miles) in 2 days.
The first day I made it to Butte MT (730 miles)
The next day I was in Deadwood SD (518 Miles)
only fuel and quick pee stops.
That's on the bike you see below

I have had many long trips that averaged 60 mph. The highest was just shy of 66 mph.
This is on all Interstates routes west of the Mississippi where speed limits range from 70 to 80 mph (Utah and Texas).
Usually ride at 75 to 80 mph. After a while like in Nebraska it seems as if you are almost parked.
If you use 55 as a measure. It should be accurate to estimate the time to cover a given distance.
11 hours for the trip that you plan on all Interstates. If traffic is flowing all the way 10 hours would be not out of line at all.
