It's a drug seizure bike. The cops here ride Harleys. They have a few nice drug seizure cages as well. These bikes and cages basically serve as a warning to the dopers.
That's what I thought BadBob, that is how it is here in PA also. If there is some kind of auto show or like this week we have a Farm Show the staties roll out the Hi-Po toys that they've seized and put them on display.
Wonder if OK is actually gonna use them in force or if that is more of a show vehicle that they've seized and just take it to different shows and outings to show it off. PA has a few sportbikes and some super high power cars that were drug seized and they just take them to shows they arent actually used by the force.

According to what I read they didn't sieze the bike, but bought them (implying they have more thanone) with drug money to use for enforcement and to as a public relations "thing" for theneglegted sportbike crowd.
Fred00,
I bow to your superior knowledge. Personally I have only tried to ride supersport bikes a few times. Butevertime I get on one for more than 10 minutes I almost need help to get off. My legs, back, hands and wrists all want to sue me for abuse.
As for the engines lasting, I agree its a nice tight and probably long lasting piece of machinery. But you have to admit that if they do actually use it likethe average Harley, every part of that bikeis going to take a beating. That's what I was referring to when I wondered about its long term servicability. Even with a limited highway persuit life, it would still rack up more mileage in one year than most civil versions do in 5 or 10 years, and I wouldbe interested in seeing just what wears out, or breaks on them.

These are Hyabusa's, not GXR's. In Suzuki terms, that's more of a cruiser than a sport bike (GSX). You've got to really look at the pegs or get on the bike, but while it's a more radical riding position than a Harley, it's more of a naked bike like position - BMW K1200R. Look at the pegs, they look like mids, not rears. I'd think they are using Hyabusa's cause you could ride this for a couple of hours.

I love the "state trooper" on it. It looks like they spent a lot of time on that. I wouldn't want to speed in OK anymore...He's alos got a modular flip up helmet. Never seen that on a motorcycle cop in the states...
Actually the busa is a very good option for the police and the new Honda 1000RR would be an even better choice (less body work means less resistance). In the last 2 years I've sold 6 Harleys to the local Police Department. They are for show and writing traffic tickets, they are no good for a high speed chase. They're slow and at high speeds, they do not have the cornering ability. Any sport bike will run circles around a cruiser and that's what the police need . Even Sport Tourers, such as BMW's K1200GTor the Honda ST1300 are no where near as safe (because the huge fairing on the front end tends to make them unstable) as a true sport bike.
