My Norton didn't have a front fender and I've run my shovel without one. I believe they call it water boarding now.....

Put the fender back and ride safely. There are already enough things to worry about when riding, why add another?

Your wrong about the front fender giving the forks stabilization. But suit yourself.

I'd like to see this bandanna on the forks set-up.
How's it keep **** from fling off the bottom of the tire and hitting you in the face?

its simply tying the bandana across the forks below the triple tree. I haven't done it but seen it posted twice now. the treads I saw it on were related to something else but other members asked the owners what the purpose of the bandana around the fork was, and in both occasions it was replied that it helped with keeping stuff from being flung at the rider when riding without a front fender.

OK, if you think a little sheet metal provides stabilization thats fine by me.

**** that comes off the bottom of your tire has frame, engine, seat, etc. between the tire and you. What I am referring to is the stuff that flies off the top of the tire and goes "forward". But its obvious youv'e never tried anything but stock.

Obviously it's not as good as a fender, but yes, a bandana does help.
As anyone who's riden in the wet without a fender knows, there's a constant spray from the tire that hits you square in the face. A bandana tied low enough so a corner rides on the tire will stop this.

As far as the fender acting as a brace, am dubious of that. I've ridden mine with and without a front fender extensively and never noticed any difference at all. I don't exactly ride easy either.

Just my 2 cents, but it seems that what you're doing is replacing a metal crap catcher with a cloth crap catcher. I'd stick with the more durable one.

I've seen bandanas on the front forks and always wondered what that was all about. I though it was just a fashion statement or something.

My brother in law has been riding without a front fender for at least 5 years. He did it because he liked the look. I'd always get a kick out of riding behind him in the rain and seeing the rooster tail that front tireld throw. In the last couple of years he has started wearing a full face 100% of the time, so it's not an issue anymore.
