I will purchase a 2012 Wide Glide very soon and would like some feedback from riders concerning the forward controls and the stock air cleaner. So, I have read so many reviews on the bike and have sat on them, along with othe HD with forward controls. I have a concern, when I sit on a bike with forward controls, the air cleaner is in the direct path of my leg extension to the right control. I had my friend sit on the bike, who is about 5 inches taller than me and he had the same issue...the air cleaner touches around the knee area. I never read any reviews that stated this to be an issue, so I may be over thinking this. This very well may not be an issue when both feet are up and riding. So, my question is, does any Wide Glide rider or rider of an HD with forward controls have a problem with the location of the air cleaner? BTW, I am 5' 7" and sit perfectly comfortable on the bike, with feet easily flat on the ground. Thank you.
my knee always rides on the aircleaner on my 01' I am 5-10. I actually have to work at keeping my foot on the peg at higher speeds. thats with an open K&N little thicker than stock for the year
I have an '11 WG. Stock air cleaner. Leg touches air cleaner. Not a big deal. Your over thinking it. Or if it does bother you, put a different on one. I'm probably going to change mine out eventually, but for performance sake, not in the way sake.

I'm 5'7" and had the same issue on my '04 WG. I bought 2" peg extenders and I am able to get my leg and foot out wider. It didn't bother me that my leg touched the air cleaner, I just found it uncomfortable because it put my ankle at an odd angle. My husband has a '10 WG and I have the same problem on it. Might wanna look at a good seat that will push you forward a bit, along with peg extenders. Not trying to say the bike doesn't fit you, but at 5'7" a stock WG for me wasn't comfortable. Good luck!
