For all you guys that wear gloves in this unbearable heat? Or any other time except when the cold season arrives. I've never figured out what other purpose they serve. I like to feel the soul of my bike when I ride, and dread to have to put them on in the late fall. I could maybe understand protection from a fall, but most of the guys I see wearing them are helmetless, so that doesn't really make much sense. So just wondering ( not a slam) why you wear them?

I felt the same way until my hands were used as protection in a fall. They didn't do to well against the ground. Now I wear gloves. No big deal though, they don't make it any hotter than my scorching 103 does.

Leather will actually reflect heat and any perspiration trapped in the glove will evaporate while riding. Your first instinct in a crash is to use your hands so that too.

Mine are fingerless so I don't really notice the heat and they have a thick pad on the palm. When I get some cushy grips I'll probably lose them. Don't think you can't feel everything with the gloves on, just a bit more subtle.

Easier on my old hands to have some insulation between the hands and the grips. Feels kind of odd when I don't put them on.

I wonder too!
I used to wear them when I could find them that fit, I have XXXL hands.
I thought I wore them for protection if I fall, It does help with the bugs between the fingers. But last year we got a lot of heat and I just figured I keep from falling too. Plus with the new Bat wing my hands are out of the wind and that makes them sweat more cuz they dont get the same breeze as before.
So I stopped wearing gloves unless it was cold. I'm not concerned about protection or I'd have a helmet too.
Plus the more I look at other riders, I think fingerless gloves in the summer are one of those biker fashion statements, if you want to look like a biker you have to dress like a biker. Biker uniform, Fingerless Gloves, Dew Rag, Leather vest, Black Harley dealer Tshirt, In other words your self cloning.
We all wear this uniform, don't we?

Rather have my hands smell like leather than rubber. Do rag to keep the sun off my balding pate, Harley shirts cuz I like to show where I've been. I do try to buy other than black shirts, but it depends on the design.

I wear full-finger, summer weight riding gloves. Wear 'em for protection (in case of a fall) and to help absorb vibration in the handlebars.
