Anyone have this tool set? I think it's like $250. I'm thinking it would be a great gift (maybe to myself). I mean if it's all Snap on stuff it has to be good right?
Easy to tell if its the real deal.
I have a lot of snap-on tools some from the late 60's. THEY ALL SAY SNAP-ON RIGHT ON THEM.
Snap-On is top shelf.
If it doesn't have snap-on right on them... they aren't, and at that price they need to be.
That set is not Snap-on. A SO 3/8 ratchet that length is $92.00 by itself. It would cost $1200 to $1500 to duplicate that set with SO branded tools.
But, from looking at the ratchet in the pic it appears to be from the Blue Point line sold by SO and made overseas. Still a very good set but not pro quality.
Price appears to be in line with Blue Point brand.
I use a soft zipper bag from Craftsmen (originally made for a multi-meter) and leftover tools from my main tool chest. The tool bag fits nicely in the saddle bag and contains 90 percent of the tools required for most applications.
I used to use Craftsman and some MAC, but a few years ago, started buying duralast from Autozone. The quality and price is great for most shade tree mechs.
For the weekend mechanic like myself, I find craftsman tools work fine. I did splurge on a Snap-on specialty socket, Flare Nut, 9/16", 6-Point for adjusting the passing lamps. Yes, I could have made one, but it wouldn't have looked as nice 8^)
