2013 street glide ran out of gas or so i thought got a one gallon gas can put that in got to the station and i put in 4.3 gallons i still have a half gallon of gas in tank but it shut off what is going on here. i have a 2012 street glide that was still running with that much gas is there an adjustment on fuel intake somewhere?
It will run out of gas with 1/2 - 1 gallons left. Your suppose to put it on reserve when it starts sputtering and head straight to a gas station. Unless EFI's are different.

EFI's have no reserve and only a fool runs out of gas twice with money in his pocket. I know that my bikes will go 167 miles on a full tank. That was the distance we had to go between gas stations. I don't recommend doing that often.
The tank is 6 gallons (actually it can hold a bit more). The intake for the fuel is a prefilter that is on the bottom of the fuel pump. The pump is inside the tank.
It is possible that yours isn't mounted correctly but I doubt it.
More likely is that your 1 gallon can had more than 1 gallon of gas in it (maybe 1.25). Then when you got to the station you stuck the nozzle in the tank. The pump shut off at 4.3 gallons. (You figure that = 5.3 gallons and not 6). You probably could have pulled the nozzle out of the tank a little and added more gas (maybe close to a gallon).
