I think you will find you like the sound a lot better with the Quiet Baffles. As others have said, it doesn't quiet them down much, but definitely deepens the exhaust note which I think makes it easier on the ear. Less harsh, raspy sound. I helped my father-in-law throw these on in a 1/2 hour. Good Luck
My Deuce has V&H which, when I bought it, did not have baffles. It was obnoxiously loud and very harsh. I put in baffles and it helped, imo, quite a lot. The baffles eliminated the raspyness and harshness. The tone was deeper also. They are still loud, just not obnoxiously loud. Much better sound overall. And yes...I still set off car alarms all over town..LOL. I love it.
I've got the BSL's ... quiet baffles. I think they're the perfect volume. A deeper rumble ... still the great sound, but as they said above ... less harsh
I did what kiethf did....I used the Smart Partz Baffles behind the Quite Baffles...It toned it way down....It still gets loud if you open it up, but it makes long trips alot better. No more droning and it is quiet while just cruising along. I had to anyway to keep the wife happy with the new pipes...You know what they say...if momma ain't happy no ones happy....
quiet baffles shouldnt hurt performance at all, if the rest of your engine is mostly stock you may actually see an increase in performance.
Any baffle rapped in fiberglass will need to be rewrapped at some point as the fiberglass packing kinda burns away as the bike is running and it will slowly make the bike get louder and louder. Just like a glasspack muffler on a car or truck. I have a glasspack muffler on my car, out of the box it really didnt sound that good, 3 yrs later since its "broke in" it sounds better then any car exhaust ive ever heard. Chances are with wrapped baffles something similar will happen where itll get louder again with time.
Quiet Baffles + Hard Kore on V&H Big Shots... Perfect tone without the edge. Did the exhaust system first (no real need to mess with the ECU/tuning), then the intake (started to get a little popping on decel, etc.), played with XiED's for a while and then went with the TTS MasterTune and a Race Tune / Dyno session to get it all dialed-in.
