Thanks guys, yeah the weather here is pretty sucky right now, was -2 the other day when I took my son to school, plenty of time still for recovery...As for giving up riding, yeah I've had alot of the "Are you going to stop riding??" Thats not going to happen, its too much of who I am and I refuse to give up one more thing to a moron in a car that doesnt pay attention....
Dribble my riding style will definately change, just riding the first time again is going to be hard enough, but even once I settle back in, I'm not looking forward to coming over a hill at speed LOL
I'll end up with another chopper, but for now I plan to enjoy the hell outta my new trike, already have plans to bump it up to 107" through Fuel Moto not this summer, but the summer of '14 when we go to (attempt) to go to Sturgis again...
Thought I'd update this post for anyone wondering how it turned out, I'm still in physical therapy a couple times a week, just started wearing a left shoe again about a week ago, I can finally take a few (shaky) steps on my own, using a walker still but a cane isnt too far off according to the dr and pt folks...Dying for spring to take my new Tri-glide out for a ride and got some crazy thoughts in the back of my head to build another Nighttrain based chopper at some point...
Glad you're healing and making progress toward riding again.
After my accident, I needed a cane for a while, started with a genaric drugstore cane, then bought a cool handcarved hickory staff, and that started a new hobby. I probably have 25 canes and walking sticks now. Still need one sometimes, (the screws + plates in my leg are better weather predictors than the weather girl on channel 3) so I always carry one with me. Built a little rack on my bike for one, or, when driving the sidehack rig, toss one in the hack. Besides, a stout hickory cane across the noggin will discourage some young punk who thinks he can mess with this gimpy old man.

LOL thanks, I been trying to find a cane like Biff's in Back to The Future 2, with the big metal fist on top
I too shattered my leg, ankle, head, and I still ride.
Currently have 14 screws and a plate in my leg, and i am still missing about 1/2".
It took me 7 months of recovery, and another year before i was able to ride, and feel safe.
Then 2 months in to riding, a lady blew a red light at 55mph and hit me again. broke my leg again, but due to the metal, it stayed in one piece. Hit my head, again. But had my helmet on. Cut my leather jacket, saved my skin.
That time took me about 2 weeks before i could ride again, but I am still worried about intersections.

Get well soon, and hope all is well
Damn, glad to hear you're still vertical! You got me beat on metal, I only ended up with a 15.5" titanium rod in my femur and six screws holding it..
Thats why we are bikers we just take it on the chin and get on with life, I nearly had my lot at just 17 years old narrowly missing a sign post on my **** at 100mph +, I am a big believer in FATE, its not my time to die today and it may not be tommorow!
Respect to you guys ............regards Phil

Fate, my thoughts exactly! How else did I survive hitting a car on the highway at 75-80mph that was backing up, though I was wearing a t-shirt and a novelty half helmet, and I was pretty badly injured, but alive.
Three days after I got home from the hospital, 2 miles from my house, a guy doing 30mph on a bike died instantly after he ran into the back of a car, the woman in front of him stopped short to turn without useing a turn signal...
Two months before my accident, during Laconia bike week a 23 year old kid on a bike got sideswiped on the highway 4 cars in front of me, he was doing maybe 50-60mph wearing a full face helmet etc was dead instantly...

Welcome to the titanium club. I had a thib/fib compound from being hit on my old triumph in 2000. Got a ti rod for that one. In '07 I got hit on my HD & got another one in my femur (compound also). So my left leg has metal hip to ankle. Also have a 4" plate & seven screws in my right shoulder, busted my hips to **** & lost my left arm above the elbow. Recovery took a long time & it was three years until I got a crappy settlement (never get hit by a cop!).
Got my new ride In late '10. A sweet little chopper a dear friend built for me. Back on two & lovin' it!

Hope you're on the new Triglide soonest!
Thanks, I'm still wondering if spies like us will need an approval letter to get through an airport! LOL
Glad to hear you can still ride, I salute you for not giving up!
