Welcome to the 21st Century. It costs way less to produce the same product in composite material than it does out of steel or aluminum.
I know what you mean, but it is what it is. Makes it a whole lot cheaper to replace it if something happens to it also.

well with that thought,why not make the fenders plastic as well or even the gas tank,**** looks like Honda has it right according to you

You're talking about small items like fender tips. At least you were. HD prides itself on it's paint jobs. Just look at their website if you don't believe me. And you'll never get that kind of a paint job on plastic.
But producing massive quantities of small, replaceable, parts such as fender tips, well, it's just saves them money to do it in plastic.

Those fender tips with the lamps were always plastic as far as I know. They are on my '94.

Its not about them saving themselves money its about increasing their profit margin were ever the can and the sad thing is you can find it all over the bikes. Oh well still love HD
