I did the a stage 1 upgrade on my 1200 Sporty within a couple months of purchase. I've had my Road King for over 2 years and am just in the process of doing a stage 1 now. My RK road so well in stock form that I was hesitant to do anything that might screw it up. Put pipes on it about a year ago and just got a tuner and am adding a high flo air intake.
Stock. Why pay good money to screw up a perfectly running bike? I just don't get it.
I just wanted a bit more grunt... happy where I am now and do not have the need to go further. Plus I had the pleasure of achieving what I did by not using a dealer or indy for help on the Stage 2 Ultra.
An indy shop assisted/guided me through the fitment of the heads on the FLSTN however, but it was an educational experience for me.
The 103 on my '12 RGU is stock and will stay that way. No mods aside from a pair of Von Braun Radio Flyers slip ons. I ride an '08 FLHTP with the 103 (stock) and had a series of Road Kings 88 ci (all stock). They were all pretty bullet proof, and modifications can detract from long term reliability and durability.
My previous bike was an '04 EGU with Stage III etc., and the mods were more of a pain than they were worth. I love the performance of the 103 on my '12, and it has more than enough power for the riding I do.

I'm kinda surprised at this poll. this is not knocking anybody at all, really!! but I thought there would have been many more radically built motors on the site. you read the posts and it seemed that everybody was building the crap out of their motors. I don't care if they do or don't I was just kinda surprised.

I kinda would have thought the same. I actually was planning a 107 in stages but after I did the 555 cam I am actually happy with the performance. Might do a head gasket to bump compression but I like it where its at.
