Default Tripping The Traffic Light.

Thanks once again to the HOG Magazine they solved how to Trip The Traffic Light when you ride over it.

You know what I mean? Like the lgiht is RED and u want to take a LEFT turn and the trip wires under the ground did NOT pick up ur bike.

You even put your kickstand I mean "jiffystand" down and it does not trip.

The Answer.........Ta Daaahhhh!! the artilce in the HOG Magazine said to rev your engine. <-- A bit aggressively it said.

Well I tried it today at a real PIA light and it worked PERFECTLY!!!!

And get this, I was not very aggressive. So I figure, I will be aggressive when a normal rev does not work.

The article also said it worked for the auther 99.99% of the time.

I know of a couple of other PIA lights I am going to go try it on.

GOOD LUCK MATE!

Did the article mention why revving the motor caused the light to trip? Vibration?

The letter from a reader claims that the "electromagnetic feild created by your charging system will thrash that beastly stoplight sensor",-----whatever.

Huh..if its written in Hog magazine it must be true.

I read it "its really really true, I swear" magazine that if you line your helmet with tin foil, get off your bike and stand on your head it will make the light change.

This needs more input on the subject, I don't think they are tripped by noise, it's by pressure when a vehicle is on them.

Loop detectors are strands of wire embedded into the pavement in a rectangular or round loop shape of standardized dimensions. When energized, the loop creates a magnetic field. When a vehicle passes over the loop, the frequency of the magnetic field changes. A device in the traffic signal controller cabinet detects this change in frequency and signals the traffic signal controller to provide that vehicle with a green indication during the traffic signal cycle.

That might, might, actually be legit. The wires are energized so it's possible that they would pick up the engine if you revved it up a little. I use lightning detectors at work and they will go crazy if an engine is running within at least 50 ft or so. So the engines on our bikes are definitely sending out a signature. Seems like it would be worth a try anyways, especially since when we are at one of these stoplights we don't exactly have much to do but wait for a car to come up behind us. Of course some people out there will take this as an excuse to rev their engines up like a bunch of idiots.
